🚚🔧🍳 Teamwork in Action at Tri-County! 🍳🔧🚚
What happens when two amazing programs join forces? Magic! ✨ Our Automotive Technology students, guided by Mr. Pires, took some time to teach our Culinary Arts students, led by the talented Chef Batchelder, how to change the oil on the Tri-County food truck. 🛠️🍔
This hands-on collaboration showcased the power of cross-program learning and highlighted the importance of stepping out of our comfort zones to gain new skills. 💡👏
A huge shoutout to both teams for their dedication, curiosity, and teamwork in making this happen. What an incredible way to learn, grow, and support each other! 💪

🎓✨ LPS students in grades 9 & 11 got an exciting crash course in civics through the Franklin Close-Up program! 🏛️👩🏫 This was our fourth year of this Franklin Close-Up program, which included new stops along the tour! The goals of this day were to provide the freshmen with real-life working examples of the interdependence of town government, and to expose them to the various career options in public service; and for the juniors to consider potential paid/unpaid internship placements (either in Franklin or in their own sending towns) for their senior year. They left inspired by real-world examples of teamwork and collaboration—and maybe with some newfound dreams of a future in public service! 💼🌈
Students heard presentations from the following departments:
Franklin Fire Dept
Town Administrator
School Superintendent
Board of Health
Technology Department
Human Resources
Finance
Town Clerk
Police Department
Arts & Culture
Franklin Public Library
Parks and Recreation
DPW / water sanitation
Animal Control

🌟 ABOVE & BEYOND 🌟
Recognizing students who go the extra mile!
🚀 How It Works:
✔ When a teacher or staff member sees a student demonstrating behavior that goes Above & Beyond daily expectations, they’ll award them an Above & Beyond Ticket.
✔ It’s a moment to celebrate students and acknowledge their efforts! We celebrating our students who use the core values of TC PRIDE !
✔ Students write their name on the ticket and drop it in the prize box of their choice, located outside the main office. Prize winners are drawn at the end of the Trimester!

Alumni All Star Dylan White! Dylan graduated in 2018 from the Computer Information Systems program. He went on to UMass Dartmouth where he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 2022. He is now a Relationship Banker at Rockland Trust in Franklin. Dylan’s favorite memory was winning the Mayflower title on the 2015 Golf Team and shooting even par in the last tournament he played in. He says his shop provided him with a head start on computer literacy with certifications in Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Technology Associate and Comptia IT Fundamentals. These certifications provided him a base for many great opportunities, including multiple internships while at college.
The senior project taught him how to work through problems and find new solutions when the obvious answer wasn't there. It helped spur creativity and preparing for projects/presentations in the future. The knowledge he gained from his vocational program has put him ahead of others in his workplace, whether it be creating documents and presentations to fixing technology issues.
Dylan’s advice to current students: “Stay interested, always keep asking questions. There's always something you can take away from school and use it later in life.”

On Tuesday April 8th, the Tri-County Dental Assisting Instructors hosted the annual Dental Assisting Instructor meeting. Educators travelled as far away from Lawrence Mass to Cape Cod for a total of 23 in attendance.
The special guest speaker was the Executive Director for Dentistry Licensure from the Department of Public Health, Barbara Young. She was able to provide invaluable insight as to how the new CTE Frameworks for Dental Assisting will affect student registration as dental assistants upon graduation. ✨📚10th graders in both LPS and Health Careers were able to donate their months'-long supply drive to Tammy Dzialo, the founder of Project PACK, a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency that provides comfort kits to survivors of sexual assault. Tammy discussed with students the important work of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE nurses), who carefully and thoughtfully work with victims who seek support in emergency rooms for evidence collection that can lead to prosecution for these awful crimes. Together, the students assembled 80 kits that will be brought to emergency rooms in Massachusetts that have these programs. Their donations will also fill dozens more kits ensuring Project PACK can continue making a difference. 💜
Let’s give it up for these remarkable young changemakers and their dedication to helping others! 👏🙌💪

Alumni All Star Kevin McCarthy – Metal Fabrication class of 1993!
Kevin is an Auto Technician at Ira Acura, where he has been for 30 years! He says that Tri-County prepared him very well for success after school and he went right to work as an automotive technician.
Kevin has so many great memories from Tri-County but what stands out are the lifelong friendships he made, especially with classmates from other towns. These connections have remained strong over the years, and he still keeps in touch with many of them to this day. For him, the bonds he formed at Tri-County are a lasting testament to the value of community and the lasting impact of those connections in shaping who he is today.
After high school, he worked in the metal fabrication trade for about a year, building food kiosks for Burger King. The skills he learned at Tri-County, including MIG, TIG, and Heli Arc welding, were directly applied to this work. Additionally, his knowledge of blueprint reading, another skill he gained at Tri-County, was essential in helping him succeed in this field.
During his junior year at Tri-County, Kevin worked toward his Arc Welding certification. It took him most of the year to pass the test, but finally succeeded on his third attempt. This experience taught him valuable lessons in perseverance, skill improvement, and the importance of not giving up.
He attributes much of his success in his career as an automotive technician to the hands-on experience he gained at Tri-County. The practical skills and knowledge he developed through real-world applications have proven invaluable, helping him excel in his profession.
Kevin's advice to students at Tri-County: "Learn, learn, learn, and take full advantage of the knowledge and skills that the teachers have to offer. Make the most of the opportunity to learn!”
