What inspired you to work in education, and how has your journey been so far?
I was inspired by attending Norfolk County Agricultural High School. Attending a vocational high school was important to me as I knew I wanted to be creative and have hands-on learning opportunities. My vocational teachers encouraged me to be involved in FFA (Future Farmers of America) similar to SkillsUSA where I learned to become a leader and a student ambassador for the "Aggie". When I applied for the Vocational Administrative Assistant position I felt as though I could make a positive impact from my experiences and I felt as though everything came full circle. I love working at Tri-County and the connections I have made with the students. My journey has been rewarding and I look forward to coming to work each day.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your students might not know?
In 2014 I won a trip to Los Angeles to attend the Oscars through the Ellen DeGeneres Sweepstakes. The prize included roundtrip airfare, hotels, a shopping spree, cash, limo service, my own hair & makeup stylist and a VIP Oscars after party. The prize also included me being a VIP guest on the Ellen DeGeneres Live OSCAR show.
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of teaching?
One of my favorite activities is attending concerts with my family & friends. I also love spending my summers in Maine at our family's lake home.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to your students?
Be kind!
