What inspired you to become a School Guidance Counselor, and how has your journey been so far?
I was inspired to become a School Counselor when I was 16 in high school and realized the role could be so much more than my counselor was. I set my sights on this and went straight from high school to college and then to graduate school and earned my first position as a middle school counselor in Vermont. I was called down to Tri-County by the principal at the time and I am so grateful she found me in the sea of 2500 qualified candidates to work at TC. I really enjoy working at a vocational/technical school and the population that attends. This is year 17 as a counselor and year 14 at TC and I truly enjoy my career and believe in the potential of all students.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your students might not know?
I love to go to the ocean, in all seasons, and search for sea glass.
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of teaching? I love to spend time with my two littles traveling in New England especially to the coast of Maine. I really enjoy my time with my friends and family. I also thrive when I am riding horses or even in the barn environment. And most know this: I love the vibe of the ski culture and skiing in general!
What’s one piece of advice you would give to your students?
Balance the good with the bad, if you always have perfection, you won't appreciate it as much. Learn from mistakes, and make a plan to do better. In the end, do what makes you happy!
