What inspired you to become a teacher, and how has your journey been so far?
My inspiration to teach came one day in 1985. I had been working as an Esthetician for about a year. I was asked to sub for an Esthetic Class at the Henry O Peabody school in Norwood. I told the head teacher that I had never taught before and she assured me that it would be fine she would across the hall if I needed anything. So I agreed. That morning as I greeted the students and began to speak I swear I heard a harp playing and the room got brighter. It was an enlightening experience and in those moments I realized what my calling was. To teach. Needless to say I smiled for the whole day. The next day I started my journey to becoming a Teacher
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your students might not know?
A fun fact for me, as a freshman in HS in 1970-71 girls were not allowed to wear pants to school. Well my class created such an uproar for months that the school committee finally voted in favor of pants for students and teachers!
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of teaching?
My hobbies are cooking and baking and being with my grown children and their families. I am truly blessed I have 6 grandchildren 3 great kids and my wonderful DIL's and SIL.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to your students?
A piece of advice I give to my students is to always keep achieving small goals because before you realize it you have taken giant leaps!
