What inspired you to become a teacher, and how has your journey been so far?

I wanted to teach math ever since I was in fourth grade and had an amazing teacher who helped me believe in myself and that I excelled in math and always helped other students. In high school I did a lot of tutoring and knew I was going to pick a college that had a HS math certification program. I started teaching middle school math in Taunton but after the birth of my second child I wanted to be closer to home and I also wanted to teach at the high school level so I was lucky enough to get a job at Tri-County. I taught math here for 15 years and am now in my 13th year as the Academic Coordinator. My journey has been very rewarding both working with students and now with teachers. This is my 28th year at Tri-County and the people here are truly special.

Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your students (teachers) might not know?

In high school I played varsity tennis. I still play and am now learning pickleball! When I interviewed at Tri-County I let them know I would be happy to coach tennis. Little did I know the tennis courts we had were torn down years before I got here.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of teaching?

Spending time with my family is my favorite thing to do. Reading and exercising are my favorite hobbies. I love to travel and see new places and try new foods.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to your students (teachers)?

There are good days and bad days but every day is a new day. It is important to come in each day, start fresh, say good morning and be present. Being part of the Tri-County community and doing what we do makes a positive difference in the lives of our students.
