What inspired you to become a teacher, and how has your journey been so far?

After college, I became a personal trainer and frequently encountered adults who had been warned by their doctors that they needed to become active or face an early death. This made me reflect on how I could help people before they reached such a critical point. With my teaching license in hand, I realized that I could make a significant impact by helping young people develop a love for physical activity. By fostering these healthy habits early on, I could potentially prevent the problems I was seeing in my adult clients or at least help mitigate them.

Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your students might not know? I was a national level swimmer and I have an identical twin brother

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of teaching? I enjoy weight training and spending time with my family.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to your students?

Taking risks and experiencing failure are essential parts of growing up. High school is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. Whether it's joining a club, trying out for a sports team, or challenging yourself with a tough class, taking risks helps you discover your true potential. Failing isn't the end of the world; it's a chance to learn and improve. Each time you fail, you gain valuable experience that makes you stronger and more resilient. So don't be afraid to take chances—embrace the journey and watch yourself grow!
