Legacy Spotlight on Brittney Colon - Culinary Arts Instructor! Brittney developed a passion for cooking at a young age. Cooking with her Grandfather in their kitchen at home. She pursued her dream by enrolling in a Culinary Arts program, graduating in 2002. This foundational education equipped her with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the culinary world.
After graduation, Brittney relocated to Florida, where she began her culinary journey at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant in Downtown Disney. Starting as a server, her enthusiasm and dedication quickly led her to transition into the kitchen. Over six rewarding years, she honed her skills as a line supervisor and lead line cook, contributing to the vibrant culinary scene that Disney is known for.
In pursuit of new opportunities, Brittney moved back to Massachusetts to join Nordstrom's Restaurant Division. She began her career as a line cook at the Providence location, showcasing her culinary talent and leadership potential. Her hard work paid off when she was promoted to Sous Chef at the Marketplace location, the only Nordstrom in the Northeast at that time. Brittney played a pivotal role in expanding the Nordstrom brand in Massachusetts, participating in the opening of all six new locations. As part of the jump team, she took on responsibilities in hiring, recruitment, training, and ultimately serving as Executive Chef.
Brittney’s passion for culinary arts extended beyond the kitchen. When the opportunity arose at Tri-County in the Culinary Arts shop, she made a courageous decision to leap into education. Combining her extensive industry experience with her love for training, Brittney envisioned teaching as her dream job. She is dedicated to guiding students, sharing her knowledge, and helping them navigate their culinary cares.
Brittney’s journey reflects her commitment to excellence in the culinary field and her passion for nurturing the next generation of chefs. Through her experiences in high-pressure kitchens and her role as an educator, she inspires her students to pursue their culinary dreams with confidence and creativity.
