On Monday, January 30, 2023 grade 9 students will start their placement in one of our sixteen Career Programs for the next 3 ½ years. Before that choice is made, we ask that ALL grade 9 parent(s)/guardian(s) attend the Grade 9 Program Information Night on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 6:30pm. You will have the opportunity to listen to presentations on your child’s top 3 Career Program choices. You do not need to attend these sessions in the order of your child’s top favorite, on the contrary, you might want to attend your child’s favorite program last, as you might have more individualized attention. At these sessions you will learn about the credentials, licensure, certifications, and hours that your child will gain over the course of their time in “Shop”, at placement, and on Cooperative Education Placement. Also, you will get to see what the lab space, shop space, classroom space, is like and where your child will spend a significant amount of time while at Tri-County.
Here is the format for the evening:

Your child will be handed a Career Program Selection Form from the #7 Exploratory Teacher the week of January 16th. This form is due back, signed by you and your child on Thursday January 19th. Students will then complete an online survey of their selections in school that day. Please make sure your child is selecting a program that they want to pursue and not one that they were convinced to enter. Students are more successful when they are doing something they enjoy!
Please feel free to reach out to your child’s Guidance Counselor if you have more questions after Program Information Night.
